How to Build A Community of Loving Fans with Live Video

Happy almost Valentine's Day! I love this day because it's a great excuse to be cheesy and eat chocolate!

And, of course, it's a celebration of LOVE. But do you ever think of the relationship you have with your future customers? Like any other relationship, you need to put in the time and energy to see it grow.

In this episode of the Art of Online Marketing Live Show, I share how to nurture those relationships with Live Video so you can have loving fans!

When you are using live video in your business, you goal is to build a relationship with your viewers. This increases their feelings towards you, grow the know, like and trust factor, has them tuning in week after week, and sharing your content with their friends.

You want to build a relationship, not unlike a romantic relationship.

Be yourself

Have you ever dated someone where you felt like you couldn’t truly be yourself? It’s not a great feeling, you hold back and then you know that you’re not being all that you can be, and that really you deserve to be with someone who you can be yourself with.

When you are building a relationship of any sort – whether it’s a friendship or a romantic relationship – it’s really important to be yourself. This way you will attract the type of people you want to spend time with, and alternately, those people will know that you are the type of person they want to send time with.

The same goes for business relationships. It can often be tempting to act “professionally” because you are a business owner and you want to come off as professional – but often that translates into boring. Professional means you are respectful of your audience and peers, you show up as best as you can, and your share your expertise – it doesn’t meant that you are perfect or have no personality.

Don’t try to put a fake version of yourself out there. It will either come off as phoney or boring. Yes, you are putting yourself out there in a professional way, so it might be different than the way you show up on your couch on Sunday mornings, but you still need to be you. Be ther you who you might be for a date – you might put on some makeup, wear you nicest jeans, put on deodorant, etc. But it’s still yyou!

Go with who you are and what you like about yourself – not how you think others think you should be. You want to be authentic. You are who you are – and that is amazing!

Be there for them

What is the key to any relationship – spending time together! So when you first start dating someone, you are doing that – you are going on dates, and you are showing up on a regular basis to build that relationship, to build that trust. If you don’t go out on any dates, the relationship isn’t going to move forward. Right?

You are probably going to see each other once or twice a week – and then probably talk on the phone or text the other days! And really, growing a community of loving fans is no different.

You want to show up for your audience regularly. You should be showing up with live video once or twice a week, and with micro content most other days of the week.

Build a relationship with a give and take mentality

Which leads me to my next point – build a meaningful relationship with a give and take mentality.

When you are building a relationship, its not all about you. You also need to give. That means you buy dinner, pick up flowers, go to the event that you aren’t that psyched about – bu you do it for them to show you care.

In the world of live video, you also need to give. Often when business owners are marketing all they do is take. They ask for a sale, they ask you to share, they ask for this and that.

But before you do that you need to give with valuable content. You need to show up on a weekly basis and share your expertise so that your audience can see the value in what you offer, implement what you shared, and get some wins.
